Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott has found a solid niche as the No. 2 running back for the New England Patriots. But is it a role that he wants to keep beyond the 2023 season?
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Elliott was asked if he’s interested in coming back for the 2024 season. Elliott said that he’s enjoyed the experience, likes being teammates with No. 1 running back Rhamondre Stevenson and loves the city, so he’s open to the idea.
“It’s definitely been a good experience. I love playing with Rhamondre. I’ve loved this team. I love this city. So I think I’d be open to it,” Elliott said.
Elliott has 497 rushing yards and over 700 yards from scrimmage this season. He’s second on the team behind Stevenson in both categories.
Question: What would you think about coming back in 2024?
Zeke: “It’s definitely been a good experience. I love playing with Rhamondre [Stevenson]. I’ve loved this team. I love this city. So I think I’d be open to it.” https://t.co/SKN0k8uY51

It’s a bit of a fall from grace for a player who was one a top three running back in the league. But there might not have been the kind of opportunities to be a starter in the league with a team that he really liked.
Now it looks as though Elliott is satisfied with where he is as an NFL player. He may not make the Pro Bowl again, but he might be lengthening his career considerably.
Will Elliott return to the Patriots next season?
