New England Patriots fans were obviously upset with the team’s performance in Saturday’s 40-7 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Things got so heated that there was an audible “Fire [Jerod] Mayo” chant ringing throughout the stadium as the Patriots dropped their 13th loss of the 2024 season.
The team has not won a game since November 10 against the Chicago Bears. Since that victory, it has been a constant downward spiral for the Patriots. They struggled on both sides of the ball against the Chargers. The offense only mustered one touchdown, while the defense allowed the Chargers to notch a season-high 40 points on the scoreboard.
“There’s an audible “fire Mayo” chant at Gillette Stadium while the Patriots trail the Chargers 40-7,” Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed posted on X.
All eyes will be on ownership to see if any major staff changes are made at the end of the season. Could coach Mayo be on his way out after only one year as head coach?
It’s hard to know if anything is off the table at this point.
