By the looks of things, Bill Belichick will not be coaching in the NFL next season. But with the possibility of becoming an NFL analyst or TV personality now in view, there’s one role he doesn’t seem to want.
According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Belichick has told multiple networks that he is “disinclined” to join a regular studio show. But the future Hall of Fame head coach could still join Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions in some sort of broadcasting role.
“While ESPN continues to pursue Bill Belichick, Belichick has told networks he is disinclined to be part of a regular studio show, according to officials briefed on the talks,” Marchand wrote. “ESPN could combine with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions and NFL Films to secure the legendary coach for a broadcasting role.”
So it sounds like we won’t see Belichick on the same set as the FOX NFL Sunday, Monday NFL Countdown or Football Night in America teams. But there’s still plenty of room for him to have some sort of role in NFL media this coming season.
Manning in particular has courted Belichick, touting him as “incredibly brilliant” and “funny” when talking about football. A level of admiration that high could lead to a deal with Belichick in whatever kind of role the former New England Patriots head coach wants.
It’s widely expected that Belichick will get more head coaching opportunities in 2025 than he did in 2024 – unless the NFL owners truly believed that he’s washed up.
