New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett isn’t concerning himself too much with the team’s addition of third overall draft pick Drake Maye.
Catching up with the veteran QB outside of a foster care event in Rhode Island on Wednesday, ESPN’s Mike Reiss asked Brissett his thoughts on the former UNC star and here’s what he had to say:
“That’s all out of my control so I don’t really worry about that. I’m excited to have him on the team and the other guys as well that we drafted and picked up. I think it’s going to be good,” the Super Bowl champ explained. “Competition brings out the best in all of us so I’m excited about that part.”
Brissett also talked about returning to New England — the team that drafted him back in 2016.
“I’m excited,” the 31-year-old said. “It’s been good so far… re-familiarizing myself with the community and the neighborhoods and the team and the building. So, it’s been good.”
Brissett last played for the Pats as a rookie before a four-season stint with the Indianapolis Colts and stops with Miami, Cleveland and Washington.
In 2023, he appeared in three games for the Commanders where he completed 18-of-23 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
