A familiar face might be back with the New England Patriots for next season.
Even though Bill O’Brien is still their offensive coordinator, there’s a chance that he and the Patriots go their separate ways now that Jerod Mayo is the new head coach.
If that happens, Josh McDaniels could be in line to replace him, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
“Bill O’Brien is currently under contract, but if he and the Patriots go their separate ways, expect a familiar face, Josh McDaniels, to be at the top of the list for Jerod Mayo’s next offensive coordinator. We shall see,” Garafolo said.

If this happens, it would be McDaniels’ third stint with the Patriots. He’s been their offensive coordinator two previous times under Bill Belichick.
He entered the 2023 season as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders but was fired during the season after they failed to live up to expectations.
We’ll have to see what decision Mayo comes to after he’s introduced as head coach next week.
