New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has not been the same over the last two seasons.
He played well as a rookie in 2021 when he completed 67.6% of his passes for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns but since then, all of those numbers have come down.
He’s been benched numerous times over the last two seasons and it’s led former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman to think that he’s lost his confidence.
“It’s just been tough for Mac to execute in the high-pressure situations and it comes down to his confidence,” Edelman said, (first transcribed by NESN). “He’s lost his confidence, and once you lose your confidence in this league, it’s tough. It sucks for him, but, you know, that’s what’s happened.”
Jones has been woeful this season, throwing for just 2,031 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
The Patriots are 2-8 and are destined for their second sub-.500 season in the last three seasons unless they win the next seven in a row.
