The veteran safety was originally removed from the list on Friday, but was added back Saturday.
One day after being removed from the New England Patriots’ injury report, Kyle Dugger has returned to the list. As the team announced on Saturday, the starting safety and team captain is questionable to play against the New York Jets because of an ankle injury.
Dugger, 28, first hurt his ankle during the Patriots’ road loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4; he left the game in the second quarter and did not return. The injury eventually forced him to miss the subsequent game against the Miami Dolphins as well, but he has since returned to the lineup.
Despite playing 100 percent of defensive snaps against both Houston and Jacksonville the last two Sundays, Dugger remained listed on the injury report until Friday. The team took him off alongside running back Rhamondre Stevenson, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, linebackers Anfernee Jennings and Curtis Jacobs, and fellow safety Marte Mapu.
Less than 24 hours later, however, he has been added back to the list. The Patriots held their traditional pre-game walkthrough on Saturday.
Dugger shares the questionable tag with eight other players. Meanwhile, two players — rookie wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk (concussion) and rookie guard Layden Robinson (ankle) — have been ruled out by the Patriots for Sunday’s game against the division rivals from New Jersey.
The Patriots’ Week 8 game against the visiting Jets is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
