New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel will be “the man” when it comes to personnel decisions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
There have been questions regarding the structure in place for the Patriots with personnel decisions. Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf is still with the team, and Vrabel is also reportedly bringing in former Tennessee Titans interim general manager Ryan Cowden.
“Eliot Wolf is staying in his job, and they’re going to bring Ryan Cowden from the [New York] Giants, who worked with Vrabel in Tennessee,” Schefter said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “He’s going to come in and assist Eliot Wolf, underneath Eliot. …[Vrabel] is the man.”
Vrabel is already hard at work assembling his coaching staff, and he won’t have to wait long to start working on the personnel side of things.
The Patriots are expected to have the most salary cap space out of all NFL teams heading into the offseason. They also own the No. 4 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft.
That gives Vrabel plenty of firepower to make a splash right out of the gates.
