In what has been a trend for him all season, New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones made even more NFL history in last night’s 25-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Jones completed 22 of 26 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown in the win. His 84.6-percent completion rate in the game marked his second consecutive game with at least 80-percent completion – making him the first rookie to achieve that feat.
Few quarterbacks in the league have been more efficient with the ball this year. While Jones has made his mistakes at time, he’s distributed the ball at a rate even Tom Brady never has.
Jones is currently completing 70.2-percent of his passes – third in the league. Only Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott have a better completion rate (and both are midseason MVP candidates).
After going 22-for-26 (84.6%) last night, Mac Jones became the first rookie in NFL history to complete at least 80% of his passes in back-to-back games (min. 15 attempts), per @EliasSports.
He currently ranks 3rd in the NFL for the season at 70.2%.

Perhaps more importantly, Mac Jones’ stellar QB play has been a big factor in the Patriots’ five-game winning streak. Granted, the defense has been nothing short of amazing, holding their last three opponents to 13 combined points.
But we’ve seen plenty of great defenses fail to win because their young quarterback made too many mistakes. That hasn’t been an issue for Jones this year.
Early in the year it seemed doubtful that Jones would even be considered Rookie of the Year. Given recent events though, that impossibility is now starting to seem like inevitability.
Will Mac Jones win the Rookie of the Year Award?
