Former New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler believes Bill Belichick will find success coaching college football at North Carolina. Butler believes the legendary coach will win due to his ability to find talent.
Butler was an undrafted free agent who once worked at Popeyes, before signing with the Patriots and becoming a Super Bowl XLIX hero. He enjoyed a successful career in the NFL that ended with two Super Bowl wins, one Pro Bowl nod and one All-Pro nod.
So, if anyone knows what it’s like to be found by Belichick, it would be the man who picked off Russell Wilson at the goal line to seal the victory at Super Bowl XLIX.
“He’s finna win,” Butler told ESPN’s Mina Kimes. “Bill Belichick never been the guy about money. Obviously, we need to be compensated for what we do, but like this NIL deal, Bill Belichick can go find Malcolm Butler working at Popeyes. You think he ain’t finna find no players that’s going to come in and play? He’s going to find players that people don’t want.”
College football will be a new challenge for Belichick, who spent the last year doing the media rounds. This could be the perfect way for him to get back into coaching.
If history has taught us anything, it has taught us to never bet against Belichick.
