Update 1/13/2025: Mike Vrabel officially introduced as new Patriots head coach
One day after announcing his hire, the New England Patriots have introduced Mike Vrabel as their new head coach. During a 40-minute press conference on Monday, he and team owner Robert Kraft officially turned the page toward the future.
“In the interview process Mike showed us that he had a very deep understanding of our current team,” Kraft said. “Most importantly he had a clear and focused strategy on how to get us back to a championship way.”
“It was clear to me in my soul that this was the place I wanted to be,” said Vrabel during his opening remarks.
Original story 1/13/2025: Watch live: Mike Vrabel gets introduced as new Patriots head coach
A little over a week after firing Jerod Mayo, the New England Patriots will introduce their next head coach: Mike Vrabel, who was hired as the 16th head coach in franchise history on Sunday, will be introduced at a press conference at Gillette Stadium on Monday at 12 p.m. ET.
The 49-year-old will take the podium alongside Patriots owner Robert Kraft. For Kraft, this presents an unpleasant déjà vu only a year after originally promoting Mayo to the head coaching position.
Unlike his predecessor, Vrabel brings some considerable coaching experience to the table. The former linebacker, who helped the Patriots win three Super Bowls and was later voted to their Hall of Fame, had served as an assistant coach at Ohio State and with the Houston Texans before taking over as Tennessee Titans head coach in 2018.
Over his six years as a Titan, Vrabel led the organization to two AFC South titles and three playoff berths. After the organization let him go after the 2023 season, Vrabel spent one year as s consultant with the Cleveland Browns.
Now, he is back in Foxboro. His introductory press conference will be streamed live at patriots.com, and you will also be able to watch it right here on Pats Pulpit.
