In the fourth round of the NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected UCF wide receiver Javon Baker. Let’s just say it didn’t take long for him to become a fan favorite.
During this Saturday’s media availability, Baker was asked what fans in New England can expect from him. His response to that question was epic and hilarious at the same time.
“Just come to the home stadium and bring ya’ll popcorn,” Baker said. “That’s all I can tell you y’all. Bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand up. Bring your popcorn.”
That’s one way to make an impression.
Baker should be a nice target in the passing game for Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall pick. Patriots fans would be pleased to know they already have a connection.
“Honestly, people don’t know this, but when Drake Maye was committed to Bama at first, we always used to practice and throw it around,” Baker explained. “So me and Drake Maye got a connection going on. So Drake Maye is probably, really, I think, in my opinion, the best quarterback in this draft. So when we connect, again, it’s going to be a good connection.”
Baker showcased his potential in 2023, hauling in 52 passes for 1,139 yards and seven touchdowns. He’ll be highly motivated to prove his doubters wrong this fall.
