Between Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson and now Mac Jones, a lot of draft picks are potentially being moved around for the quarterback class of 2021. As for Jones, there seems to be a growing consensus on what the Patriots can get for him.
According to the Boston Herald, three NFL executives have stated that Jones is worth “around a fifth-round pick” in a trade with another team. But another from the AFC said that the Patriots might only get a sixth-round pick at best.
“Three front-office executives told the Herald quarterback Mac Jones should fetch around a fifth-round pick in trade talks with other teams. Another AFC evaluator suggested the Patriots might be lucky to land a sixth-rounder. Jones is reportedly expected to be traded this offseason, as the team plans to upgrade its quarterbacks room,” Andrew Callahan wrote for the outlet.
Jones has been on the outs with the organization since seemingly before the season ended. It is widely believed that he has played his last snaps for the Patriots, who are moving forward with a new regime at head coach and in the front office.
The former No. 15 overall pick has seen his on-field production dip year-over-year, going from one of the most efficient throwers in the league in 2021 to nigh unwatchable in 2023.
As a result, Jones’ value has completely tanked and it remains to be seen if he can even fetch as high a pick as Trey Lance (who has already been traded) or Zach Wilson (who is actively seeking a trade partner).
What will the Patriots get for Jones? Will they get anything?
