Dak Prescott’s contract is up after the 2024 season and that has people floating some crazy scenarios.
Nick Wright, who appears on FS1’s “First Things First” during the week, discussed how Prescott could find himself with the New England Patriots after this season.
“What if the Patriots traded the pick at No. 3, particularly if Drake Maye is there because people seem to love him. Say he’s traded to Minnesota for 11 and 23 and something. They draft a tackle there…draft one of the mini-stud wide receivers in this class at 23, and have the plan be we’re gonna sign Dak Prescott,” Wright said.
It’s a fascinating idea but the Patriots may not want to pass on Maye if he’s available at third overall. Even if he’s not, would they pass on LSU’s Jayden Daniels if he’s available?
Drafting one of those quarterbacks is more of a sure thing compared to hoping Prescott makes it to the open market. The Cowboys could extend him before the new league year in 2025, which would make all of this moot.
It’s more likely that the Patriots will keep the No. 3 pick and draft a quarterback rather than trade down.
