New England carried two open spots on the practice squad.
The New England Patriots made additional changes to the practice squad entering the weekend.
The organization officially signed defensive tackle Marcus Harris and long snapper Tucker Addington on Friday, as the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed and ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported.
Both were in attendance, wearing No. 58 and No. 46, for the final session in Foxborough.
Harris, 24, was selected by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft. The former transfer from Kansas to Auburn finished his collegiate career with 41 starts across 47 games. He had a hand in 126 tackles, including 31.5 for loss, along with 11.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. Invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine followed for Harris. After being waived at the 53-man roster deadline, the 6-foot-4, 298-pound rookie began the regular season on the practice squad and was released Wednesday.
Addington, 27, begins his third stint with the Patriots. He had returned amid training camp after previously stopping by in 2022 following contracts with the USFL’s Houston Gamblers and Dallas Cowboys. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Sam Houston State product signed to the practice squad that December and was promoted as incumbent long snapper Joe Cardona landed on injured reserve. Waived during the 2023 preseason, Addington went on to spend time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Commanders. He has appeared in six career games and registered one tackle on special teams.
The Patriots carried two openings on the practice squad heading into the Texans matchup.
Previous movement included center Sincere Haynesworth’s signing as well as wide receiver Matt Landers and guard Jerome Carvin’s release, plus wideout John Jiles’ re-signing and defensive tackle Trysten Hill’s release.
Sunday’s kickoff at Gillette Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
