New England carried an open spot following guard Liam Fornadel’s release.

A veteran of 107 games has signed to the practice squad in Foxborough.

The New England Patriots announced the addition of wide receiver Alex Erickson on Wednesday, as Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reported.

Erickson, 32, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2016. The 6-foot, 195-pound Wisconsin product led the league in kickoff return yardage as a rookie and remained with the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons. Stops with the Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers have been made since then.

He spent last campaign in the AFC West as a member of both the practice squad and 53-man roster.

The NFL journey has brought 1,828 snaps on offense and 777 snaps on special teams for Erickson. A 17-game starter out wide, his career includes 112 receptions for 1,373 yards and a pair of touchdowns. An additional 78 scrimmage yards have come as a rusher across 18 attempts.

And in the third phase, where 162 punts and 110 kickoffs have been returned, Erickson stands with averages of 8.0 yards and 24.8 yards per, respectively.

He now joins a Patriots practice squad that carries fellow wide receivers John Jiles and Braylon Sanders, while the 53-man depth chart carries DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.

The release of offensive lineman Liam Fornadel, who signed to the scout team at its formation in August, opened a spot.

The Buffalo Bills host Sunday’s flexed 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff at Highmark Stadium.
