The New England Patriots have released cornerback J.C. Jackson.
They made the decision shortly before 5 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon. He’ll now be a free agent heading into free agency in a couple of weeks.
Jackson spent the first four seasons of his career (2018-21) with the Patriots and was one of the best corners in the league. In three of those seasons, he recorded at least 36 total tackles and at least five interceptions.
His best individual season came in 2021 when he compiled 58 total tackles, a forced fumble, eight interceptions, and 23 passes defended.
He then spent the next season and a half with the Los Angeles Chargers before they traded him to the Patriots on Oct. 4 of last year.
In eight games with the Patriots, he found his game a little bit again and compiled 25 tackles and six passes defended.
Before he made the NFL, he played college football at Maryland from 2016-17. In those two seasons, he finished with 80 total tackles, four interceptions, and 13 passes defended.
Let’s see who he signs with when free agency opens.
