The New England Patriots have cut an offensive lineman.
The team announced on Monday that tackle Conor McDermott had been released. He made five starts at left tackle last season while the team dealt with some injuries.
Prior to being released, McDermott had one year left on his contract. The move will save them a little over a million against the cap ($1.2 million).
He was also with the team during the 2022 season and made six starts at right tackle. That came after they signed him off the New York Jets’ practice squad.
He had been with the Jets since 2019 and made 35 appearances before their biggest rival poached him.
McDermott also spent the first two years of his career with the Buffalo Bills and made eight appearances. For his career, he’s appeared in 55 games and has made 17 starts.
Before he got to the NFL, he played his college football at UCLA>
He’s now free to sign with any team as the second wave of free agency is about to be in full swing. Let’s see who he signs with.
