The New England Patriots have already beaten the Buffalo Bills once this season, and they’ll go for the sweep at Highmark Stadium Sunday.
Heading into the game, Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai was asked by reporters about the notoriously raucous environment in Orchard Park.
His response indicated that New England’s goal is to do its best to keep the atmosphere as tame as possible.
“It’s cool, it’s cool,” Tavai said. “But we have a goal, and our goal is to go in there, into enemy territory, and do our best and keep ’em quiet. So, we’re gonna do our best on our side. … I’m trying to imagine that and make it a reality. So, it’s a cool atmosphere, but we wanna do something about that.”
The Patriots (4-11) knocked off the Bills in Foxboro on Oct. 22, one of just four wins on the season for Bill Belichick’s team. Two of their other three victories have come this month.
As for Buffalo, they were looking dead in the water at their bye with a 6-6 record, but a three-game winning streak has rejuvenated the season.
The Bills will likely secure a playoff berth with one more victory and if they beat New England and the Baltimore Ravens beat the 11-4 Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the Buffalo-Miami matchup in Week 18 will decide the AFC East.
