Bill Belichick had a great run with the New England Patriots but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
During his 24-year reign as the head coach of the Patriots, he led them to six Super Bowl titles and 18 playoff appearances before the two sides parted ways after this season.
He’s now taking some time off while Jerod Mayo steps in to replace him.
With Mayo in the fold, the team will be run a bit differently and Patriots executive Eliot Wolf appears to like that.
“Less of a hard-ass vibe,” Wolf said, via NESN.
Based on that comment alone, players and staff members will be able to relax a little bit and not have to work in such a tense environment.
Belichick appeared to always do things by the book when he was running the team but things look to be changing.
Maybe this different environment will lead to better results in 2024 after the Patriots only won four games in 2023. They’ve also missed the playoffs in three of the last four seasons and haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 2018 season.
