Former New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork thinks the team has an easy decision with the No. 3 overall pick.
He thinks the team should take a quarterback with that pick since they don’t have a franchise player in that position.
“I’d go quarterback because this quarterback draft is so strong,” Wilfork said, (first transcribed by NESN). “You don’t know next year what it is. I’m going quarterback because I’m not going to get the receivers. I’m not going to get the top-skilled position players coming to my team if I don’t have a quarterback. It’s hard to sell a program and an organization if they don’t have a quarterback.”
The good news for Wilfork and the Patriots is that a top quarterback will be waiting for them when they’re on the clock. It won’t be Caleb Williams but they’ll have a shot to take one of Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels with that pick.
Both are set up to be strong NFL quarterbacks based on how their collegiate careers went.
If the Patriots draft one of them, they’ll then look to get more weapons to help him succeed.
