Pending free agent cornerback Jonathan Jones wants to return and finish his career with the New England Patriots.
At 31 years old, this could be an opportunity for Jones to explore the free agent market. However, he’d rather play for the team that selected him out of the 2016 group of undrafted rookie free agents.
He recorded 58 tackles, two forced fumbles and six pass deflections last season under former coach Jerod Mayo. He has been a valued part of the Patriots’ secondary for nearly a decade, and he’s a two-time Super Bowl champion with the team.
“One goal of mine is to be in one place for my entire career, but more importantly, just get back to winning football,” Jones said, when appearing on the “Next Pats Podcast.” “And I think Vrabes can bring that culture back to New England, and we can get back to winning football games.”

What to do with Jones will be one of many tough decisions the Patriots will need to make in free agency. The veteran corner made Patriots Wire’s Cam Garrity’s list of players the team can’t afford to lose in the offseason.
Time will tell if the two sides can hammer out a deal to allow Jones to finish out his career as a Patriot.
