New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo challenged his players by calling them out publicly, and they responded by upsetting an Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets team and ending a six-game losing streak.
Rookie quarterback Drake Maye looked like the best player on the team until he left the game early with a concussion. That left a space open for veteran Jacoby Brissett to step up as the unlikely hero against the same Jets team that dismantled him back in Week 3.
If vengeance truly is a dish best served cold, then Brissett and the Patriots served this one on the rocks to the Jets. The Patriots engineered a comeback touchdown drive late in the first quarter, along with converting a two-point conversion to put the Jets away.
Let’s take a look at the best and worst performers from the game per Pro Football Focus grades.
