The LSU product had been ruled out due to a foot injury.
Jaquelin Roy’s season has come to an end with four games remaining.
The New England Patriots moved the defensive tackle to injured reserve on Friday, shortly after he had been ruled out on the final injury report of the week due to a foot injury.
Roy, 24, missed back-to-back practices after coming out of the bye as a limited participant. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound LSU product signed to the practice squad following a workout in September. A promotion to the 53-man roster followed as the calendar turned to October.
Across six appearances, including one start, Roy had a hand in 17 tackles as well as the initial two sacks of his NFL career. He played 141 defensive snaps over that span, yet missed three consecutive games from November into December because of a neck issue.
Entering the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2023 draft at No. 141 overall, Roy saw action in a dozen contests during his rookie campaign in the NFC North. He totaled one start and eight tackles before being waived at the league’s cutdown deadline in August.
A spot on the 53-man roster in Foxborough now opens with his placement on injured reserve.
