Things might be even worse for New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones than we thought.
According to Patriots insider Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal, Jones is “emotionally and mentally beat up” as a result of everything that’s transpired over the past few weeks. Per the report, Jones feels he’s poured “everything” into the job and gotten so little out of it that he’s feeling “beat up” over it.
“On Mac Jones, talked to a pair of team sources. One said he’s ’emotionally and mentally beat up. He’s poured everything into it, so to get this little out of it is exhausting.’ Another added Mac has been ‘pressing’ and is ‘beat up,'” Giardi wrote.
Jones had his worst performance of the season this past week. He completed 12 of 21 passes for just 89 yards and threw two interceptions for a season-low 27.8 passer rating.

Mac Jones may very well have played himself out of a job too as the Patriots are reportedly giving backup Bailey Zappe the reps at quarterback ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend.
There’s a chance we’ve seen the last of Jones as the starter in New England entirely.
When will we see Mac Jones take the field again?
