Jordan has started 11 games so far this season.
Offensive lineman Michael Jordan, who started 11 games at left guard this season, has returned to the New England Patriots. The organization announced on Friday that it had signed him to its practice squad after he was waived earlier this week.
Jordan, 26, first arrived in New England as a futures signing in January. He began the regular season on the practice squad, but was elevated for the first two games of the season to serve as the starter at left guard. He eventually was promoted to the 53-man roster ahead of Week 3, and went on to add nine more starts to his résumé.
However, despite ranking second on the team in offensive snaps (684 of 780; 87.7%) the team decided to part ways with him on Tuesday. Jordan was waived after the team had claimed fellow interior O-lineman Lester Cotton.
After not getting picked up by another team on the waiver wire, the 2019 fourth-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals is now back in New England. He still is eligible to be standard-elevated to the game day roster on one occasion.
In a corresponding move, the Patriots have decided to release offensive tackle Jalen McKenzie from its practice squad.
A 2022 rookie free agent, who started his career in Tennessee, Seattle and Las Vegas, McKenzie took his talents to Foxboro in late September. He remained on the practice squad ever since without seeing any game action.
The Patriots will host the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, 1 p.m. ET.
