Brown, 26, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after starting 40 consecutive games in the SEC. The 6-foot-5, 313-pound Ole Miss product spent his rookie year on injured reserve with the Cincinnati Bengals before going between the practice squad and active roster of the Seattle Seahawks last fall. His debut included eight downs at left guard and an additional seven downs in the kicking game.
The Arizona Cardinals signed Brown to the practice squad ahead of the 2023 finale. A futures contract then brought him to head coach Antonio Pierce’s quarter of the AFC West midway through January.
Brown re-signed to the practice squad in Las Vegas after being part of the organization’s cutdowns. He played exclusively at center, eclipsing the century mark in snaps, during his most recent preseason.
At 1-4, the Patriots stood with two open spots on the active roster after defensive end Jamree Kromah was waived and safety Jabrill Peppers was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.
The 4-1 Houston Texans visit Gillette Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
