The veteran safety will remain in New England through the 2027 season.
The New England Patriots have locked up another core member of their defense for the foreseeable future. The team and safety Jabrill Peppers reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension, as confirmed by head coach Jerod Mayo.
According to a report by Field Yates of ESPN, the contract carries a base value of $24 million. Through incentives, Peppers will be able to earn an extra $6 million.
Peppers, 28, entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017. He was later traded to the New York Giants before eventually signing with the Patriots in free agency in 2022.
Since then, he has appeared in 32 games with 20 starts for the organization. One of its most reliable performers on the defensive side of the ball, Peppers has caught a pair of interceptions, forced and recovered one fumble each, and has a sack to his name. He also registered 127 tackles, plus 11 more on special teams.
Peppers has now become the latest Patriots player to sign a new deal with the club this offseason. The team previously reached extensions with center David Andrews, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, defensive tackle Christian Barmore, and linebacker Jahlani Tavai.
In addition, several players including safety Kyle Dugger, offensive lineman Michael Onwenu, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, and tight end Hunter Henry were re-signed in free agency.
