Former NFL cornerback Malcolm Butler believes that coach Mike Vrabel will be a good fit for a New England Patriots team looking to turn the page after three straight losing seasons.
Butler played under Vrabel during his time with the Tennessee Titans. As the former All-Pro defensive back noted, the Titans came within one game of reaching the Super Bowl under Vrabel.
“I think he’s gonna do well,” Butler told ESPN’s Mina Kimes. “Like I told somebody else earlier, we was one game from the Super Bowl playing against the [Kansas City] Chiefs when he was working for the Titans.
“He’s a great coach also. Players love him, he loves players, he played the game. He’s got the same philosophy as Bill Belichick, but he’s a little bit nicer. He’s a good coach. He’s a player’s coach.”
Butler won two Super Bowls with the Patriots after joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He is most remembered for his game-winning interception against the Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl XLIX.

“I think he’s gonna do well….Players love him, he loves players, he played the game. He’s got the same philosophy as Bill Belichick, but he’s a little bit nicer. He’s a good coach. He’s a player’s coach.”

There are reasons for Patriots fans to be optimistic as the team begins its first offseason under Vrabel. The future is finally bright with the right coach, quarterback and money to shake things up in a big way.
