After another losing season, New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas is ready for the team to get back to winning football games.
Douglas has been a bright spot on a Patriots offense that has had its share of ups and downs this season. He has recorded 63 catches for 587 yards and three touchdowns on the year.
He is coming off a game in which he scored the only touchdown for the Patriots in a 40-7 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. All told, he recorded four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.
“I feel like [the loss to the Chargers] alone should have a bad taste in everbody’s mouth just because we lost at home,” Douglas told reporters. “And I feel like us being a young team, we should go into next year like, ‘Man, we dislike losing.’ I dislike losing, and I feel like my two years I’ve been losing, and I feel like it’s time to make a change.
“We got pieces, and we’ll add more pieces next year. …I’m trying to be in the playoffs. I’m trying to go for a run and have a winning season. I’m tired of losing, for real.”
Douglas burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2023. He tallied 29 catches for 561 yards last season. The Liberty product has been a consistent part of the Patriots passing attack in his first two seasons.
It will be a pivotal offseason for the Patriots in 2025. They need additional playmaking pieces on offense. The organization should feel thankful that Douglas has been one of them, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
