The second injury report heading into Week 4 at Levi’s Stadium.
The New England Patriots were down three during Thursday’s preparations for the San Francisco 49ers.
Offensive tackle Vederian Lowe, guard Michael Jordan and cornerback Alex Austin remained sidelined from practice. But six members of the active roster went forward in a limited capacity, including outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who returned after missing the previous full-pads session.
Here’s the second injury report ahead of Sunday’s 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff at Levi’s Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- OT Vederian Lowe (knee)
- G Michael Jordan (ankle)
- CB Alex Austin (ankle)
49ers
- WR Jacob Cowing (illness)
- DT Javon Hargrave (triceps)
Two September starters along the offensive line are trending in the wrong direction for the West Coast road trip. Lowe had been ruled out with a knee injury ahead of what became a 24-3 loss to the New York Jets. And while the left tackle did not travel to MetLife Stadium, Jordan exited from the left guard spot 31 snaps into the night. The 53-man roster promotion continues to deal with an ankle injury. The same goes for Austin, who also did not finish last week’s game in the secondary.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- TE Hunter Henry (ankle)
- OT Caedan Wallace (knee)
- G Sidy Sow (ankle)
- LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder)
- CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder)
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
49ers
- WR Deebo Samuel (calf)
- TE George Kittle (hamstring)
- DT Jordan Elliott (foot)
- LB Curtis Robinson (knee)
- LB Dee Winters (ankle)
Jennings had been a non-participant for the Patriots on Wednesday due to a shoulder issue. The Alabama product stands with 14 tackles, including a pair for lost yardage, as a starter and setter off the edges this season. A handful of his teammates remained limited. Count 2023 and 2024 draft investments on the O-line among them in Sow and Wallace. The former has not seen game action since the August finale because of an ankle injury.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- OT Michael Onwenu (wrist)
- S Jabrill Peppers (ankle)
49ers
- QB Brock Purdy (back)
- OT Trent Williams (illness)
Two veteran starters have logged back-to-back full practices in Foxborough after being listed as questionable leading up to the AFC East matchup last week. Elsewhere, Patriots center, captain and All-Decade selection David Andrews was removed from the injury report on the heels of a veteran rest day. And as for the reigning NFC champions, the blindside of the line regained an 11-time Pro Bowler following a brief absence with an illness.
