First Quarter
The Bears won the toss and deferred, putting Drake Maye and the Patriots offense on the field first. Facing an opening 3rd-and-4, Maye could not find an open receiver before being brought down for a sack.
A 38-yard punt return by DeAndre Carter started the Bears first drive over midfield. A coverage sack by Anfernee Jennings set Chicago up with a 3rd-and-10, where Caleb Williams’ pass was dropped by Rome Odunze.
A poor punt from the Bears started New England’s next drive at their own 34-yard line. Maye got things started with an impressive 28-yard completion to Austin Hooper before two straight runs moved the chains. Two more runs then set up a 3rd-and-5, where Maye managed to just pick up four yards with his legs. Going for it on 4th-and-1, Rhamondre Stevenson picked it up on the ground. Then facing a 3rd-and-6 inside the 20, Maye bought time before finding K.J. Osborn in the end zone, but the receiver was out of bounds. Joey Slye’s 30-yard field goal was then good. [Patriots 3 : 0 Bears]
The Bears got the run game going on their next drive to help pick up a pair of first downs to move into New England territory. A run stuff by Jaquelin Roy then pushed them back into a 3rd-and-7, where Williams was sacked by Deatrich Wise.
Back with the ball New England got on the move as a quick hitter to DeMario Douglas on second-down went for 17 yards. The drive quickly halted as Maye rolled out to his right and threw an interception right to T.J. Edwards.
Second Quarter
Taking over near midfield, the Bears faced an opening 3rd-and-3. A screen to D.J. Moore was read by Marcus Jones and Jaylinn Hawkins to record a two-yard loss. Chicago then punted.
The Patriots offense faced a quick 3rd-and-7 to start their next drive, where Maye’s pass to Douglas was short of the sticks and incomplete.
Back-to-back completions led to two straight first downs for Caleb Williams and the Bears offense. Set up with a 3rd-and-4, Williams missed an open Moore to lead to a fourth-down play which Williams converted with his legs. Two straight runs by Swift picked up 17 total yards to move Chicago in the red area. Two run stuffs — powered by Jeremiah Pharms — led towards a 3rd-and-10 where Brenden Schooler brought pressure as a QB spy to help force an incompletion. Chicago then settled for a field goal. [Patriots 3 : 3 Bears]
A short run and completion to Kayshon Boutte started New England next drive. On 3rd-and-3, Maye found Douglas who took it 17 yards. Facing another 3rd-and-short, Maye hit Austin Hooper for 24 more yards to move inside the red area. Following the two-minute warning another 3rd-and-short was picked up off a strong effort from Stevenson. Inside the five, a play action pass resulted in Maye finding Ja’Lynn Polk for a score. [Patriots 13 : 3 Bears]
Third Quarter
The Bears started the second half with an 18-yard completion to D.J. Moore working against Christian Gonzalez. The struggles then took back over as Pharms got home for a second-down sack and more pressure on third-down resulted in a one-yard scramble from Williams.
Injury update: DT Jaquelin Roy (neck) is questionable to return.
New England got started with 11 yards on the ground by Stevenson before Maye’s completion to Boutte was negated for an ineligible man downfield. The QB went right back to Boutte the next play to get the yardage right back and move the chains. Facing a 3rd-and-8, Maye’s pass was batted down at the line of scrimmage.
Three straight targets and two completions to Cole Kmet picked up an initial first-down for the Bears offense. Following a strong tackle in the flat by Marcus Jones and pass breakup by Jahlani Tavai, Schooler got home to split a third-down sack as a QB spy.

Back with the ball, New England faced a 3rd-and-2 after a short run and completion to Boutte. Stevenson, however, was stuffed on the ground to force a punt.
Two runs by Swift set Chicago up in a 3rd-and-6 where Williams’ pass was broken up by Dell Pettus.
A deep shot downfield to Boutte fell incomplete on first-down before Maye then had to throw his second-down pass away. On 3rd-and-10 from the gun, Maye was forced into a check down to Stevenson for just three yards.
Fourth Quarter
Starting the fourth quarter with a 3rd-and-9 after a false start, New England dialed up pressure which resulted in Pettus getting home free for a sack.
Injury update: DB Marcellas Dial Jr. (head) is questionable to return.
A 19-yard scramble by Maye on second-down got New England’s offense on the move over midfield. Two runs by Antonio Gibson then moved the chains before a hold on Boutte pushed them backwards. New England quickly got the yardage back as Gibson picked up 10 yards on the ground before Maye found Hooper for 12 more. On 3rd-and-5 from the seven, Maye’s pass was misfired to Henry in the end zone. [Patriots 16 : 3 Bears]
The Bears next drive started by going backwards as a designed rollout led to New England’s seventh sack of the afternoon. A completion to Moore got eight yards back to set up a 3rd-and-8 where a check down was stopped short of the sticks. Keeping the offense on the field on 4th-and-2, Williams hit Odunze for four yards and a conversion. A pair of penalties helped set up a 4th-and-10 where Marcus Jones broke up a pass to Keenan Allen.
Taking over at the Chicago 46-yard line with 4:54 left, New England kept it on the ground as Stevenson saw two carries to total nine yards. On 3rd-and-1, Maye worked up in the pocket to find Henry for 14 yards. Back to the ground, Stevenson picked up seven more yards to force another 3rd-and-short. New England went back to Stevenson who managed just one yard. Joey Slye then added another field. [Patriots 19 : 3 Bears]
A roughing the passer penalty on Tavai got Chicago 15 yards after a third-down incompletion. Following the two-minute warning, Tavai got home for the team’s eighth sack of the day. One play later, Keion White made it nine with another sack of his own. On 4th-and-20, Williams hit Odunze for just eight yards.
Maye kneeled out the clock.
