The first injury report heading into Week 11 at Gillette Stadium.
As the New England Patriots returned to the practice fields on Wednesday, so did linebacker Christian Elliss and safety Kyle Dugger.
Both starters had been ruled out last week after missing three consecutive sessions. But head coach Jerod Mayo’s active roster remained shorthanded on the defensive side of the ball as preparations for the Los Angeles Rams got underway in full pads.
Defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr., defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy, linebacker Sione Takitaki and cornerbacks Isaiah Bolden and Marcellas Dial Jr. all were sidelined.
Here’s the first injury report leading up to Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- DT Jaquelin Roy (neck)
- DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (foot)
- LB Sione Takitaki (knee)
- CB Isaiah Bolden (personal)
- CB Marcellas Dial Jr. (concussion)
Rams
- OT Rob Havenstein (ankle)
- OT Joe Noteboom (ankle)
- DT Neville Gallimore (neck)
- CB Charles Woods (ankle)
Each of New England’s five non-participants had been in uniform last Sunday. But at defensive tackle, Roy was announced as questionable to return due to a neck injury that previously left him listed as questionable to play against the Chicago Bears. Wise off the edges and Takitaki off the ball also headed to the sideline on the way to the 19-3 win. And so did Dial, the No. 180 overall pick in the 2024 draft, who has since entered the NFL’s concussion protocol following a collision on special teams. As for Bolden, his absence on Wednesday was unrelated to injury.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- TE Hunter Henry (foot)
- OT Vederian Lowe (shoulder)
- DT Daniel Ekuale (abdomen)
- LB Christian Elliss (abdomen)
- S Kyle Dugger (ankle)
- S Marte Mapu (neck)
Rams
- LB Byron Young (knee)
Dugger has missed three straight starts due to a lingering ankle injury. The defensive co-captain rejoined the limited participants on Wednesday along with Elliss, who became a starter at the end of October before battling an abdomen injury in recent weeks. New England’s partial group would also include a team captain at tight end. Henry’s addition to the injury report with a foot ailment comes after he handled one reception and 89 percent of the offensive snaps at Soldier Field.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- CB Alex Austin (ankle — IR return)
Rams
- S Kam Curl (knee)
The 21-day activation window remains open for Austin. The sophomore cornerback went on injured reserve due to an ankle issue at the end of September and graduated to full participation last week. He continued in that capacity for the Patriots on Wednesday while awaiting a potential move back to the 53-man roster.
