The first injury report heading into Week 6 at Gillette Stadium.
The New England Patriots returned to the practice fields on Wednesday without running back Rhamondre Stevenson and safety Kyle Dugger.
Both starters stayed sidelined due to foot and ankle injuries, respectively, as work on the Houston Texans got underway with rookie quarterback Drake Maye under center.
Here’s the first injury report heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- RB Rhamondre Stevenson (foot)
- S Kyle Dugger (ankle)
Texans
- RB Joe Mixon (ankle)
- WR Robert Woods (foot)
- OT Laremy Tunsil (ankle)
- OT Tytus Howard (hamstring)
- G Kenyon Green (knee)
- DE Derek Barnett (shoulder)
- LB Jake Hansen (back)
- CB Kamari Lassiter (shoulder)
- S Jimmie Ward (groin)
Despite not starting last weekend against the Miami Dolphins, Stevenson turned 16 touches into 92 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. The running back left the field under his own power after going down late in the 15-10 loss. Dugger, meanwhile, went to the inactives for the first time since 2022 because of an ankle injury. The defensive captain had been listed as questionable on the heels of missing three consecutive practices. Elsewhere on Wednesday, the NFL moved fellow Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers to the commissioner’s exempt list while the Texans placed league receiving leader Nico Collins on injured reserve.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- WR Kendrick Bourne (knee)
- WR K.J. Osborn (shoulder)
- OT Vederian Lowe (knee)
- G Layden Robinson (ankle, wrist)
- C Nick Leverett (ankle)
- DT Davon Godchaux (elbow)
- LB Sione Takitaki (knee — PUP return)
- CB Marcus Jones (groin)
- CB Marco Wilson (groin)
Texans
- RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring)
- WR Stefon Diggs (rest)
- LB Del’Shawn Phillips (hip)
Nine practiced in a limited capacity for the Patriots on Wednesday, including a returnee in Osborn. The veteran wideout missed all of last week due to a shoulder injury while Bourne made his 2024 debut for the depth chart on a snap count. The 21-day activation window remains open for Takitaki, as well, after the March signing began the fall on physically unable to perform. But the new names among the team’s partial participants include Leverett at center, Godchaux at defensive tackle and Wilson at cornerback.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder)
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
Texans
- DT Kurt Hinish (calf — IR return)
Two defensive starters graduated to a full workload for New England during Wednesday’s session. Jennings was ruled out for the final game of September before making his way back to the edges for the AFC East matinee. And the longest-tenured member of the cornerback room has also been managing a shoulder injury of his own this season while playing 65 percent of the snaps.
