The converted offensive tackle signed to the 53-man roster on Wednesday.
In Foxborough, a Wednesday arrival became a Thursday departure.
The New England Patriots waived defensive tackle Haggai Chisom Ndubuisi with the non-football illness designation, according to the transaction wire. The move leaves the organization with two openings on the active roster as the final game of the regular season nears.
Ndubuisi, 24, had been signed off the practice squad of the Washington Commanders on New Year’s Day.
A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Ndubuisi entered the NFL as part of the International Player Pathway in 2022. Setting out as an offensive tackle with the Arizona Cardinals, he switched to the defensive side of the ball while with the Denver Broncos in 2023.
After spending the latter campaign on the practice squad and not being retained on a futures pact, Ndubuisi made a stop in the UFL with the San Antonio Brahmas last February. Two months following his release, the 6-foot-6, 298-pound convert agreed to terms with Washington.
Ndubuisi went on to play 39 defensive snaps in the 2024 preseason for the Commanders, totaling five tackles, two quarterback hurries and one sack, according to Pro Football Focus. He then signed to the practice squad at its formation upon clearing waivers at the league’s 53-man roster deadline in August.
The Buffalo Bills, locked into the AFC’s No. 2 playoff seed, visit Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The finale is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
