The August waiver claim appeared in eight games for New England.
An August arrival in Foxborough will be departing in November.
The New England Patriots officially waived offensive lineman Zachary Thomas on Tuesday afternoon, as first reported by Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald.
Thomas, 26, had been claimed from the Los Angeles Rams following the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound San Diego State product went on to appear in eight games this fall, working between left tackle and left guard while totaling 84 snaps on offense and 24 snaps on special teams.
Originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft at No. 186 overall, Thomas began his rookie year on the practice squad before heading to the NFC West for a spot on the active roster. From there, he saw action in three games over the previous two campaigns.
A corresponding move loomed after head coach Jerod Mayo’s side reportedly signed guard Tyrese Robinson, a 2022 undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma, off the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings.
The position group remains at an active nine for New England, while additional offensive linemen in Liam Fornadel, Caleb Jones and Jalen McKenzie reside on the scout team.
The NFL trade deadline passed Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
