Plus, who should be New England’s next coach?
Sunday afternoon’s win marked the end of the 2024 season and the end of a short-lived Jerod Mayo era in New England.
In a meaningless game, Mayo gave the opportunity for young plays to shine. Joe Milton took advantage of the opportunity, tossing a 48-yard touchdown and taking one in from a yard out on his own.
Less than 90 minutes after the game concluded, Mayo was out.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft addressed the press on Monday, taking responsibility for the decision to hire and then fire Mayo.
The Patriots began their search for a new coach quickly, interviewing candidates Byron Leftwich and Pep Hamilton on Tuesday and setting up interviews with Mike Vrabel and Ben Johnson for later in the week. In addition, they also requested to interview another Detroit Lions assistant, Aaron Glenn, for the vacant position.
