It’s been over two decades since the New England Patriots sent Peyton Manning packing in the 2003 AFC Championship game but the Hall of Famer still holds a grudge.
Sitting down to sign some memorabilia for Fanatics, Manning refused to sign an ’03 Patriots hat which then ironically got kicked over to Tom Brady.
“Ha. No chance of signing that one. No chance,” Peyton smiled before tossing it away.
Fans got a kick out of the clip on social media:
“That’s my QB,” a user laughed.
“Get tom Brady to sign a colts hat,” another replied.
“Give Tom Super Bowl 42 & 46 hats,” a fan shot back.
“I bet Eli Manning will sign that hat and inscribe it with 2-0 !” another person exclaimed.
“the way tom signed that hat made me mad.”
“I miss Peyton so damn much man,” an Indianapolis native commented.
Brady and Manning’s rivalry is well-documented from Peyton’s days in Indy to his second act in Denver.
The Patriots and Colts dominated the AFC in the early-to-mid 2000s (with some Pittsburgh Steelers mixed in) and regularly went head-to-head for bragging rights in the conference.
Peyton always dominated the individual accolades and stats, while Tom had the rings. In their 17 total meetings (regular season and playoffs), Brady led the way with an 11-6 record.
