New England Patriots rookie starting quarterback Mac Jones has been getting some help from his girlfriend heading into his first NFL start.
Jones revealed that his girlfriend helps him walk through the playbook in their front yard.
“She does a good job. Most of the time we just walkthrough in the yard. She’s actually helps me a lot,” Jones told Merloni & Fauria.
Jones’ girlfriend is former University of Alabama student Sophie Scott. The happy couple met during their time in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Scott was often seen in the stands at Alabama games.
The relationship has continued into their professional days, as Scott has moved to the Boston area with Jones.
The happy couple has a house and a dog.
They’ve already attended a Red Sox game together, too.
Jones was named the Patriots’ starting quarterback earlier this fall. New England chose the rookie over the veteran in Cam Newton.
“The reason they released me is because, indirectly, I was going to be a distraction without being the starter,” Newton said. “Just my aura. … That’s my gift and my curse. When you bring a Cam Newton to your facility, when you bring a Cam Newton to your franchise, people are interested.”
Jones, meanwhile, will make his NFL debut on Sunday.
Kickoff between the Patriots and the Dolphins is set for 4:25 p.m. E.T.
