The New England Patriots will conclude the worst season of Bill Belichick’s iconic tenure when facing the New York Jets in Week 18. Immediately after, the head coach is scheduled to sit down with ownership about his future.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss told Mike Greenberg on Get Up that Belichick is scheduled to meet with Robert and Jonathan Kraft on Monday.
“They’re going to be looking for some answers as to why things have fallen off so dramatically this season,” Reiss said Thursday morning. “Robert Kraft has been very disappointed with the way this season has unfolded.”

Reiss added that sources close to Robert Kraft say he’s “strongly” considering moving on from Belichick. However, the owner has yet to reach a decision.
At 4-12, the Patriots have the most losses of any season in Belichick’s 29-year coaching career. They went no worse than 9-7 in two decades with Tom Brad
New England is last in scoring and 28th in total offense. Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe have combined to throw 19 interceptions.
A disastrous season has led to frequent speculation about a previously unthinkable scenario. Could Kraft fire Belichick after the season?
Belichick would leave Foxborough with six Super Bowl rings and the second-most wins (playoffs included) behind Don Shula. The 71-year-old could represent a huge hire for another organization if he decides to keep coaching.
Yet the Patriots can use a shake-up, and Belichick may be reluctant to disrupt the status quo. The Boston Herald reported that he wanted to keep Matt Patricia in charge of the offense before caving to Kraft and hiring Bill O’Brien as the offensive coordinator last offseason.
Belichick will seek his 334th career victory when ending the season against the Jets this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
