Report: Patriots Have Received ‘Laughable’ NFL Draft Trade Offer

The New England Patriots own the No. 3 overall pick in this week’s NFL Draft, and they’re at least listening to offers, according to reports.

At this point though, New England has not heard anything to pique their interest. According to MassLive’s Mark Daniels and Karen Guregian, any trade offers the Patriots have received thus far have left them wanting.

“According to one source, the Patriots have fielded calls and trade offers for their first-round pick,” Daniels and Guregian wrote. “However, the source indicated that those offers were ‘laughable’ and not close to getting the Patriots to move down. As of now, the team is still waiting for a ‘serious’ offer.”

The Chicago Bears are set on taking USC quarterback Caleb Williams No. 1 overall, and the Washington Commanders have indicated they will hold onto the No. 2 pick and select a QB of their own.

If that quarterback is LSU’s Jayden Daniels, as many suspect, that would leave UNC’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy as the next best quarterback options for the Patriots at No. 3.

Could another QB-needy team like the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings or Denver Broncos swoop in and make New England a Godfather-type offer for that pick in order to jump up and take Maye or McCarthy?

It’s possible, but so far it hasn’t happened, and the Patriots are not going to force a trade if one that they like doesn’t materialize.
