The New England Patriots reportedly have their eye on the coach of a former rival as Jerod Mayo looks to fill out his staff.
According to The MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Pats are “in talks” to add ex-Giants HC Ben McAdoo to their organization, with the 46-year-old likely to serve as an assistant head coach and help offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt on that side of the ball.
The Patriots are in talks to add ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo to their offensive staff, per sources. He’s likely to play an assistant head coach type of role, and help OC Alex Van Pelt on that side of the ball.

McAdoo’s last head coaching job came in New York where he led the G-Men to a 13-15 record before being fired with four games left in his second season.
Since then the veteran offensive mind has landed on his feet with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and most recently as the OC of the Carolina Panthers. If hired McAdoo would bring a good amount of experience that could benefit a first-year head coach like Mayo.
In his 18 years in the National Football League, McAdoo has worked with seven different teams and was a part of a Super Bowl champion in 2010.
