The Jerod Mayo era got off to a bit of an awkward start at Wednesday’s introductory press conference.
As Patriots owner Robert Kraft attempted to pronounce Mayo’s brother’s name, the newly named head coach had to jump in and correct him. Saying with a smile, “It’s one of those black names. I’ll help you with that.”

Mayo takes over for his former coach Bill Belichick where he made two Pro Bowls, an All-Pro team and won a Super Bowl before becoming an assistant on the Patriots staff.
