Since Ryan Poles took over as General Manager, the Chicago Bears have typically been active at the trade deadline. However, they’ve usually been on the acquiring end rather than sending players away. In 2022, Poles traded a second-round pick for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool, and the following year, he made a similar move, trading another second-round pick for Washington Commanders’ star pass rusher Montez Sweat. The Bears were in desperate need of talent and now have a team loaded with star players. This puts the team in a position to ship off some players buried in the depth chart. Former fifth-round pick Larry Borom is one of those players, and several teams could be in the market to trade for his services.
Saints, Chiefs, Patriots Could Be Trade Suitors for Bears Larry Borom
What Makes Larry Borom a Solid Asset
ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler identified Larry Borom as a possible trade asset for the Bears, noting, “Offensive tackle Larry Borom (ankle) is eligible to return from injured reserve, so I could see teams inquiring about Chicago’s tackle depth.”
Borom returned to practice on Wednesday and was a full participant on Thursday ahead of the Bears’ matchup against the Commanders. Originally drafted as a depth player, Borom has started 23 games for the team. However, the Bears appear ready to move on, as shown by their decision to draft tackle Kiran Amegadije in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Borom, standing at 6’5″ and 333 pounds, possesses a strong anchor that helps create a stable pocket, along with good pad level and agility for his size. However, the 25-year-old tackle could use a fresh start on another team.
