The August arrival joins general manager Nick Caserio’s 53-man roster.
Former director of player personnel Nick Caserio has taken a flier from his old stomping grounds.
The general manager’s Houston Texans claimed offensive lineman Zachary Thomas off waivers from the New England Patriots on Wednesday, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Thomas, 26, became the corresponding move after his previous team signed fellow lineman Tyrese Robinson to the 53-man roster. He had arrived in Foxborough as a waiver claim in August.
From there, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound San Diego State product appeared in eight games, working between left tackle and left guard while totaling 84 snaps on offense and 24 snaps on special teams.
Originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft at No. 186 overall, Thomas began his rookie year on the practice squad before heading to the Los Angeles Rams for a place on the active roster. He checked into three games while in the NFC West and was among four cuts awarded to the Patriots as the league’s deadline passed.
Offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs, defensive tackle Eric Johnson and linebacker Curtis Jacobs remain on the 53 overseen by executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.
