It’s a new era in New England. The Patriots not only have a new head coach, but a widely revamped staff underneath him.

Jerod Mayo is replacing Bill Belichick, and the former Patriots linebacker and longtime assistant previously announced his three coordinator hires: Alex Van Pelt (offense), DeMarcus Covington (defense) and Jeremy Springer (special teams).

On Monday, New England revealed 17 additional staff hires, which you can read about in full here.

Among the notable new names are former Patriots star linebacker Dont’a Hightower, who will coach inside linebackers, and former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo, who will serve as a senior offensive assistant.

Two more ex-Giants assistants, Drew Wilkins (outside linebackers) and Tom Quinn (special teams assistant) are also part of the group, as are former Patriots wide receiver Tiquan Underwood (assistant wide receivers) and ex-Jets staffer Taylor Embree (running backs).

Meanwhile, ex-Cleveland Browns offensive line assistant Scott Peters, a former NFL offensive lineman, will handle the all important duty of running the Patriots’ offensive line.

As for Mayo, he has been New England’s inside linebackers coach for the last five seasons before being tabbed to replace Belichick last month.

The Patriots parted ways with the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach following a 4-13 campaign. Belichick missed the playoffs in three of his last four seasons with the franchise following the departure of Tom Brady after the 2019 campaign.
