Brown was most recently the Bears interim head coach.
Mike Vrabel’s search for the New England Patriots next offensive coordinator is officially underway.
The Patriots interviewed Chicago Bears interim head coach and offensive coordinator Thomas Brown about the open position on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Brown interviewed for the offensive coordinator position in New England last year, but ultimately landed in Chicago as the Bears passing game coordinator. He was then elevated to offensive coordinator mid-season before being named the team’s interim head coach.
Prior to his year in Chicago, Brown served as the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator in Bryce Young’s rookie season. Brown did not originally hold play calling duties, but was let go at season end after the team was tied (with the Patriots) averaging a league-worst 13.9 points per game.
Following nine years of collegiate coaching experience, Brown broke into the NFL under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent three seasons with the Rams coaching running backs and then tight ends, even holding the title of assistant head coach in 2021-22.
Brown is the first reported candidate to interview for the Patriots open offensive coordinator position this offseason.
