It’s been a long time since Tom Brady went No. 199 overall in the 2000 NFL Draft. But has it really been so long that Brady himself has forgotten that he went drafted at all?
That certainly appeared to be the case during his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. At one point during the interview while talking about his long career, Brady said that he was an undrafted rookie.
“You know I’ve been a part of a lot of Super Bowls, championship games, I’ve had seasons that didn’t go the way we wanted, I had some injuries, I was undrafted (as a) rookie, I’ve seen guys come in with great expectations and not meet it, I’ve seen underdogs…” Brady said.
Fans were wondering if that was a little slip of the tongue by Brady or if he’s actually convinced himself that he went undrafted entirely rather than just being drafted late.

“Uh-oh, he’s already making mistakes! He was drafted, albeit in the the sixth round. Looking forward to listening to him next season,” one user wrote.
“Tom Brady is going to be such a bland, scripted announcer. He puts me to sleep whenever he talks. Also, he wasn’t undrafted! Such a weird thing to lie about,” wrote another.
“Did Tom Brady shamelessly convince himself he was undrafted?” Awful Announcing wondered.
Do you think Brady lied or made a mistake?
