What Tom Brady accomplished during his two decades with the New England Patriots may never be replicated NFL history. Now that he’s been out of the game for a year, he’s reflecting on what it took to accomplish it all.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, Brady explained that the key to the “Patriot Way” that culminated in six Super Bowls was a byproduct of exceptional preparation in practice and a selflessness among the players.
“I think what we tried to do was we tried to do things the right way. I think we tried to practice the right way and prepare the right way. What happened on gameday was ultimately a reflection of what we practiced and I thought we had great leadership from our coaches and it filtered down to the guys who drove the culture… I think being a real selfless player and understanding that if the ball didn’t come your way as a receiver and it went somewhere else, that was a great thing for the team,” Brady said.
Brady said that the team owes a lot of credit to its offensive line through the years as well and declared that football is the ultimate team sport where everyone has to be doing their job in order to find any success, let alone great success.

Tom Brady won three Super Bowls in his first four years as a starter and lost two more in 2007 and 2011 before reeling off three more Super Bowl titles between 2014 and 2018 to claim the most rings in Super Bowl history.
He then left the Patriots in 2020 and won a seventh ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, effectively proving that he could win anywhere without the “Patriot Way” setting the tone.
