The New England Patriots were defeated by the Buffalo Bills by a 24-21 score, which was a much closer game than many expected.
The Patriots started off the game by scoring 14 unanswered points. However, Buffalo managed to climb back into it in the second half when the Patriots committed three turnovers.
It wasn’t the greatest game for Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who went 16-of-29 passing for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
However, give some credit to the Patriots’ defense for making things hard on Allen in the pocket. Running back James Cook managed to pick up the slack for Buffalo’s offense with 11 rushes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
On the Patriots’ end, rookie quarterback Drake Maye went 22-of-36 passing for 261 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His favorite receiving target on the day was wideout Kayshon Boutte, who hauled in five receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown.
There was more optimism from fans after the loss considering the Patriots managed to hang tough on the road against a potential Super Bowl contender. Here’s what fans were saying on X after the game on Sunday:
